Natural or glamorous

Every bride is unique in deciding on the look for her wedding day, and although the makeup may seem like a pretty basic concept to getting ready, it can be quite the opposite.
Along with your dress, shoes and décor, each bride must decide which style suits her and which style will complement and make her feel confident from  morning to night.
Basically there are two main looks to choose form when it comes to your face; natural or glamorous.

Well Nicole Peterson from She Styl’n Makeup, Hair and Beauty, says there are several factors which contribute to making the right choice.
‘Firstly and most importantly bridal makeup should be an extension of your personality and it is important to feel comfortable, confident and beautiful on your day’.
Nicole says it all comes down to what is going to complement your skin tones, your wedding gown, then theme of your wedding ( formal black tie or casual beach theme) the location of your ceremony( church, garden or beach) and the time of your ceremony ( morning , afternoon or evening ). To make the decision easier for you, it’s important to understand exactly what each look entails.

A natural look
According to Nicole a natural looking bride is one that doesn’t look over done .To get the look right you must ensure a well-covered yet dewy complexion opposed to a matt heavy coverage..
A natural bride can still look defined and contoured for her photos but it’s all about working with natural earthy colours that complement her skin tones and make sure they are well blended with no harsh lines or heavy contouring to give you a natural look.

A glamorous look
This look can easily be achieved without looking over done. The first thing you should aim for is balance between eyes and lips.

If you want to go with smoky eyes, then ensure the lips are toned down with a subtle lip colour and a glossy finish. The same applies for a bold lip colour, remember to keep it balanced and go for a natural well defined eye. Try adding false lashes or lash extension to instantly give you a touch of glamour. Remember, a glamorous look must complement your dress,, your ceremony and of course you !

Before making a decision, ask yourself the following questions-

  1. What is going to make me feel comfortable and beautiful?
  2. Is the makeup an extension of my personality?

In the lead –up to your wedding there are a few things you should keep in mind to help you pull off a flawless base for your makeup.

  1. Book in for some facials treatments such as peels, microdermabrasion and laser treatments.
  2. Use quality skin care range and routine to keep your skin soft, supple and hydrated.
  3. Drink lots of water and indulge in regular exercise.
  4. Exfoliate your face does wonders to the look and feel of your skin. Nicole Recommends you start doing regularly right up to the wedding day.
  5. Use an eye cream, daily moisturiser and sunscreen, this will all contribute to slowing down the ageing process.
  6. Don’t squeeze or pick anything on your face or body before the day, leave it up to your makeup artist to cover any blemish.
